TREATMENT OF HEADACHES

Apart from typical civilization-related diseases (coronary heart diseases, congenital diseases), people nowadays suffer from such conditions as bruxism or tension headaches. It is bruxism and the complications it causes that are the reason for hypertonus, masseter muscle dysfunctions, cervical spine dysfunctions (CSD) and shoulder girdle dysfunctions that frequently lead to persistent headache, cervicalgia or spinalgia. Bruxism consists in teeth grinding or clenching, especially during times of stress.

This is how our body reacts to suppressed emotions. Patients suffering from bruxism lose control over their muscle tone. Increased muscle tone impairs the stimulation of the cardio-vascular system, which causes typical symptoms related to oxygen deficiency in the head, neck and shoulder girdle. These symptoms include: formication, heaviness, as well as numbness and pain. Conditions that might be caused by stomatognathic system dysfunctions are:

  • chiralgia and girdle pain
  • persistent headaches, cervicalgia and backaches
  • hearing disorders, combined with ear buzzing
  • xerophtalmia and tense eyeball
  • pains in the area of attachment of the masseter muscle and temporal muscle
  • disc dislocation of the temporomandibular joint
  • tooth crown fractures and tooth attrition
  • paradontal atrophy related to exposure of teeth roots
  • wedge-shaped cavities of the tooth neck
  • bleeding while brushing teeth
  • cheek mucosa maceration
